By now, it is well-known that I am a fan of personal development & gratitude, optimism and I go way back… so when I found this book Thank & Grow Rich: A 30-Day Experiment in Shameless Gratitude and Unabashed Joy by Pam Grout, I just had to get it. And let me tell you, I am so GRATEFUL that I did.
Gratitude can really benefit our lives, even if simply because it changes our focus and our perceptions. And it so happens both of those little babies can often make us or break us. Our perception and what we focus on really can change our world… now it is up to us if we are seeing heaven or hell on Earth.
This book is all about putting gratitude into practice through fun and completely doable “party games” or ways of thinking. I also love the writing style that Pam uses throughout the book. It feels like a conversation with a friend and little nuggets to take away and think about and then apply. And for those who love to take a fun selfie, she includes selfie opportunities throughout the book.
I also like that this book encourages people to have fun as they are inviting more and more gratitude into their life. I can’t really think of any negative side to allowing gratitude to shine in one’s life. Plus, I really like feeling good. It works with me and my lifestyle… so gratitude is something that I do practice and want to make sure I am modeling to my son. Every once in a while I forget to let my gratitude light shine and I start to lose sight of all the wonderful things going well in my life and I can feel it affect me and those I am in contact with in those moments. It just feels heavy and yucky… like when I ate way too much of a meal that I didn’t really like that much and then just want to nap away that uncomfortable, hard to breath feeling. Luckily, gratitude has been a part of me since I was a little one and that Eeyore feeling doesn’t stay long and then I get back on track. And everything feels and looks brighter, lighter, and better.
If you are someone who is trying to find a little more joy in your day or want to just experiment with different tools, this book would definitely be a recommendation of mine. For the next 30 days, add a little gratitude to each day and see what changes for you.
I’d love to hear a time when gratitude influenced your life in a positive way. Share in the comments. 🙂
